Salkantay route is on its way to become one of the most famous across the world due to its ample geography and bio diversity of flora and fauna, this route goes through Humantay and Salkantay glaciers mountains as well as beautiful turquoise colored lagoons which seems surreal.

During your adventure through this Salkantay trek, in the third day you will have the opportunity to hike an authentic inca path with more than 500 years old and lead you to Llaqtapata archaeological site, from here our visitors will have a unique and impressive view of Machupicchu inca citadel inside the Andes mountain chain, Salkantay Mountain and its glaciers.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Wayracmachay

The begin of this adventure is in Cusco city, picking you up from your hotel approximately at 04:30 am by our professional adventure guide and our private transportation, for a short ride to Mollepata town (2 hrs.) Upon or arrival, we will stop some time to have our first breakfast and use the restrooms, afterwards we will continue through some hours until reach Soraypampa and from here we will initiate our hike with impressive views of Humantay and Salkantay mountains. This first portion of the hike is gradually ascending towards Salkantay mountain and through a very ancient path until reaching Salkantaypampa, called this way due that it is located on the foothills of Salkantay snowcapped mountain. Then, we will continue until reach the summit of this road, Salkantay Pass in which we will have stunning views of surrounding mountains and appreciate the valley tropical forests. Later in the afternoon and after a nutritious lunch, we will start descending on foot for 2.5 hrs until reach our campsite and enjoy our team will prepare your hot shower (we provided towels) then enjoy a relax time to share appetizers hot drinks and dinner. Meals: Snacks, lunch and dinner. Day 2Wayraqmachay – Colpapampa – La Playa Sahuayacu

We will start this day with our special service to tent and a hot coca tea which is good for the altitude, and then you will have breakfast in our dining tent. After breakfast we will continue descending the Sacred valley and will enjoy a lot of wildlife as many types of orchids, varieties of trees, bamboos, different types of wild birds and moreover! Then we will reach to Colpapampa village, here we will have a break for lunch. In the afternoon, continuing with our hike for another 3.5 hours inside tropical forests guided by the river which flows across this valley until reaching La Playa Sahuayacu town, our campsite. You will also make cultural visits to interact with local people, you have also the opportunity to visit coffee plantations and taste some exotic beverages of the zone as coffee liquor, coffee cocktail, honey liquor or mead; please coordinate with your guide whom will assist you during this whole adventure. after a fantastic day our team is waiting for you with your hot shower some hot drinks a grate food for dinner. Maximum Altitude: 3800 m.a.s.l /12500 fts. (Wayraqmachay) Meals: snacks, Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Difficulty: Moderate Hiking distance: 15 kilometers Accommodation: camping place Minimum Altitude: 2000 m.a.s.l /6600 fts.(la playa twon) Climate: Sunny during dry season. Very humid and rainy during rainy season.

Day 3La Playa Sahuayacu – Llaqtapata – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes

This day will be interesting as after having our delicious breakfast, fill our bottles, camelbacks and take our snacks to start our hike. We will depart from Lucmabamba village ascending Llaqtapata archaeological site which will take 6 kilometers approx. Once in Llaqtapata we will have the stunning view of Machupicchu inca citadel as well as Huayna Picchu mountain and the greatest Andes mountain chain. For further information, our expert guide will lead you during these 4 days and keep you informed about the place and this archaeological site. Finishing this tour, we will descend another 2 hours until reach Machupicchu Hydroelectric, here we will appreciate some water falls, plantations of coffee, bananas and more. Then we will have our lunch here and some time for a short nap before boarding our train (30 mins) towards Aguas Calientes town in which you will have a 3 stars hotel accommodation. This evening you will have dinner at a touristic restaurant and have the briefing to plan your agenda for tomorrow and be able to see the sunrise at Machupicchu before your guided tour. Maximum Altitude: 3000 m.a.s.l / 9600 fts. (Llaqtapata archaeological site) Climate: Sunny during dry season. Very humid and rainy during rainy season. Transportation: Train from Hydroelectric to Aguas Calientes Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Difficulty: Moderate Hiking distance: 11 kilometers Accommodation: 3 stars hotel at Aguas Calientes Minimum Altitude: 2000 m.a.s.l / 6600 (Aguas Calientes)

Day 4Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes – Ollantaytambo – Cusco

This day we advise to wake up very early in order to board one of the first buses to reach Machupicchu inca citadel and appreciate the impressive sunrise over it as it is a unique experience. Then you will have a private guided tour by our expert tour guide which will lasts 2.5 hours including a lot of information about our Inca culture, considered one of the most important in South America with an ample extension in this continent. You will have a extra tour to see the Sungate of Machu Picchu or the Inca Brigde, wich are located inside Machu Picchu with amazing views of Machu Picchu. Once you had finished your guided tour and taking the beautiful Machupicchu postal photo, you will have time to rest and make the visit to some important places as Huayna picchu or Machu Picchu mountains (we advise you to request the ticket at booking time) or walk to Sun Gate, or Inca bridge in Machupicchu. Following your experience, for your return you will board the bus back to Aguas Calients and then from here you will board expedition class train at 14:55 pm back to Ollantaytambo train station; upon your arrival, our transfer will be waiting for you to return back to Cusco city and your respective hotels, arriving by 19.00 pm approx. Meals: Snacks, breakfast. Difficulty: Easy Minimum Altitude: 2000 m.a.s.l / 6600 fts.(Aguas Calientes town) Maximum Altitude: 3300 m.a.s.l / 10800 fts.(cusco city) Climate: Sunny during dry season.
